Paris Waters
Introduction
Paris completed a Bachelor of Psychology with Honors in 2005 at the University of Wollongong before completing another two years of accredited study under an internship program in 2010.
Paris has been a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA since 2010 and has been working as a Consultant Psychologist in several industries including workers compensation, employment services, educational, insurance, veterans’ affairs, and also private practice including Headspace since 2017. He is also a qualified workplace conflict Mediator.
His broad range of experience means he can work with a variety of clients including workers compensation clients, veterans, adults and adolescents. Paris’ counselling techniques include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and the mindfulness-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
These interventions are evidence based and have been proven through research to be effective against a wide range of clinical presentations including depression, trauma-based disorders including complex PTSD and PTSD, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and borderline personality disorder and more.
Paris places emphasis on the therapeutic alliance with his clients and so takes time to understand his client’s needs and tailors his counselling techniques to each person’s circumstances. A non-judgemental and supportive environment is created to allow the client to make effective change.
Paris’ fees are $140 per 50-minute consultation, where a client on a MHCP can be reimbursed $85 through Medicare (if they are currently on a Mental Health Care Plan as initiated by their GP). No referral from a GP is required if you do not intend to access the rebate from Medicare. Paris is SIRA accredited.
